Global Patent Prosecution Highway

Australia and a host of other countries commenced the Global Patent Prosecution Highway (GPPH) pilot on 6 January 2014.

The pilot will provide applicants with a unified framework to fast track their patent applications at participating IP offices, namely, the Canadian, Danish, Hungarian, Icelandic, Israeli, Finland, Japanese, Korean, Norwegian, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Swedish, United Kingdom and United States Patent Offices, as well as the Nordic Patent Institute.

Notable jurisdictions missing from the GPPH include the Chinese and European Patent Offices. It is hoped that they will join the GPPH at some future point.
